this is kim chaeyeon, 2nd gen musical acting major at seoul institute of the arts high school
today’s tmi:
i brought my actual high school name tag to use as a stage prop hehe
mine says “musical acting department” right on it 😉
“chaeyeon’s name tag was so clear to see\!\! lol”
you saw it well? then my plan was a total success 🤭
“when i saw it i was like “oh she really brought the real one’”
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ i made sure to pack it well
that’s how serious i am about the stage..
every part of it
i pay attention to every detail, especially for this comeback
but it was a surprising shock that out of 24 people, there wasn’t a single one from arts high school ㅋㅋ
when we all tried on the uniforms, mine was the only one with a brown tone
the members all said mine was pretty
but kim soomin said it looked like poop
that kid seriouslyㅏㅏㅏㅏ
such an elementary schoolerㅏㅏ
really, all the other members said it was pretty…
only she… said… pp ㅇ ㅇ……
“chaeyeon, have you thought about getting bangs?”
nope\~ not really.. my forehead is way too pretty
would be a shame to cover it
maybe i’ll bring them down sometimes? just once in a while?
but bob hair is definitely doable\~ i had it for so long lol
but seriously, my forehead is the prettiest part of me
“do you prefer long hair or short hair on yourself?”
honestly, i could rock a buzzcut, my head shape is that nice
i’m thinking of a bun tomorrow..
with neat little baby hairs styled nicely on the sides hehe
for the outfit, compared to the others who are more hip
i think mine’s more on the soft and pretty side
but for this comeback i’ve had long straight hair a lot
tucking one side behind my ear ㅋㅋ
i did that a lot but i don’t regret it
it was a total cheat code
like, it really brought out my natural beauty…
i realized during this "are you alive" comeback
that straight hair is the style
that best shows kim chaeyeon’s natural face
but today’s outfit is a uniform so i’m going with
straight hair again
tomorrow i’ll try tying it up
still deciding between ponytail vs bun
we’ll see

i just washed up
actually, the behind-the-scenes of today’s school uniform outfit
wasn’t the company’s idea
it was mcountdown who first suggested it
they said it’d be nice if we performed in our actual school uniforms
“big mcountdown
cool mcountdown
shiny mcountdown”
the stage felt even more meaningful with 24 members
since we were all students once (some still are)
“some of yall told the truth about the uniforms
and some… didn’t… so it was funny”
i just stayed quiet and observed ㅋㅋㅋㅋ
wanted to see how far people would believe it
but yeah, the fact that i brought my real old name tag
as a prop deserves some praise

and it didn’t just have “kim chaeyeon” on it
but also “musical acting department” written above it, which made it even better
truthfully, back in high school i was kind of embarrassed by that
it didn’t matter inside school since everyone was in some department
but outside…
having “musical acting department”
and “kim chaeyeon” on a name tag
felt a bit cringy back then
but now that i’m in my 20s, putting on that same uniform
and pinning on that name tag i used to feel shy about
just made me genuinely happy
it felt strange in a good way
the other members were like “whoa acting department? it even says it on your name tag” hahaha
i was so happy to relive those high school days

ah that reminds me
let me tell you a little behind-the-scenes story from my high school days
at our school, not wearing your name tag to school meant penalty points
one time, i forgot mine and went to school without it
a teacher
(who was actually pretty close with me, we talked a lot)
asked, “chaeyeon, where’s your name tag?
you can’t be without it\!”
and i’m someone who really values manners and etiquette
that’s just how i was raised…
so i answered,
“it’s okay. my face is my name tag.”
my face is the name tag.
and the teacher just burst out laughing
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ
but rules are rules, so i still apologized and headed to class
i remember that clearly
there’s a similar story about ebs too
i worked there for 2 years and 3 months straight
no live broadcasts on weekends, but we still had shoots sometimes
anyway, to get in, you have to scan a card key on the first floor
the doors and elevators won’t work without it
i obviously had my ebs id badge
got it from when i became “hani”
i think i still have it at home i never returned it, kept it for memories
and since the ebs building had just opened around that time,
my badge number is one of the very first
kinda rare, you know? hehe
anyway\! the staff usually wear their badges around their necks
but i didn’t need to
i had to wear costumes and be on camera
so i only used the badge to open doors and take the elevator
but sometimes i forgot it
and when that happened, i’d go to the front desk in the lobby
to sign in and get a visitor pass
but the front desk people eventually got to know me
they’d go,
“oh you’re hani-nim, right?
just go ahead\~^^
your face is the pass\~^^”
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ always like that
and later on, when i approached them
they’d just say “go on in\~\~”
and then eventually, they didn’t even say anything
i’d walk up with my trademark smile, and they’d just hit the door unlock button
ㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋㅋ i started with a name tag story
and ended up telling you an ebs id badge story too
